The company was born when Allison Suter
recognized the need for a better guitar strap – so she created Moody Leather (named in honor of her father). She ended up developing a line of guitar straps which are not only stylish but are also
extremely functional in that they distribute the weight of the instrument over the shoulder very well. She was careful to create the strap without any plastic or metal buckles or pieces which might scratch a beloved guitar. And, her proprietary design work ended up creating a strap that won’t twist around during guitar changes on stage. Because of her innovations, Moody is now the strap of choice for working guitarists and bass players.
In the early years, Kathy O’Connell joined Allison and assisted with the manufacturing and marketing of the straps. Kathy proved to be a valuable partner and helped grow the business from its infancy to one with international distribution.
As the Company Grew
Allison partnered with former GIT instructor and entrepreneur Jack Thrift to assist with business development. As a guitar player, Jack was blown away by the quality and functionality of his own Moody straps and he enjoys sharing this experience with others. Jack further explained, “When I tried these straps for the first time, I had this feeling of gratitude that someone (Allison) actually thought this through in a way that made my experience playing guitar better.”
Brian Ricks joined the Moody team in Artist Relations and Sales. His significant artist contacts have lead to an expansion of the brand from our rock history to the country music capitals in the U.S. Even before he joined Moody, Brian was sharing the Moody story with many influential players. According to Allison, “Brian was so much of a brand ambassador for us that I couldn’t help but bring him on as a permanent member of our team.”
We are all committed to making the best straps available anywhere – strap one on and you too will be convinced!
